We are thrilled to announce that Hayato Ogawa is the winner of the 2013 “Award of Excellence” for his six-year garden project at Thyme on 43rd.
This prestigious award is given out by the BC Landscape and Nursery Association to acknowledge outstanding achievement in landscape design. Hayato is the recipient of the “Grand Award” which is not awarded every year, but only when the judges determine that a project stands out above the rest.
With literally years devoted to creating the gardens at Thyme on 43rd -using imported trees from Japan, (and in some cases, even growing the trees from seed), hand-picking stone from quarries that can only be visited by invitation, building gazebos, laying pathways and installing dozens of mature trees – Hayato has demonstrated an exceptional talent for, and dedication to, the art of Japanese garden design. It’s the dedication of a true Japanese craftsman that – at long last – is being recognized and honored by professionals in the gardening industry.
Born in Kyoto, Japan, Hayato Ogawa is a certified horticultural technician in landscape installation, and is the owner of Ogawa Landscape Design in Vancouver. His website is www.ogawalandscapedesign.com
