Hayato, raised in Tokyo, was born in Kyoto where he returned to study landscape design and became a Certified Horticultural Technician in Landscape Installation. He completed one of the most difficult and respected training programs with Kyoto Fugasya master landscape company. Hayato was trusted to work on many national treasure temple gardens and important cultural assets in Kyoto. He now has over ten years experience in Canada.
Working with Evelyn to design and create an oasis at Thyme on 43rd, every stone, and plant was hand chosen for its unique character and purpose in the garden. Stones were selected from Whistler, B.C., trees and ornaments were brought in from Japan making this a garden worthy of being featured in renowned Japanese landscape architecture magazine, Niwa. Visitors from Japan have expressed that they have never experienced such a beautiful garden, even in Japan.
Hayato returns to the garden on a regular basis to maintain the large water features and prunes the trees and plants using Japanese tradition. Owner of Ogawa Landscape Design since 2005, Hayato and his family live in the Lower Mainland.
